Gyanta tatár típusú íj

English below
Alapja a gyanta magyar I., illetve a magyar II. volt.
My very first bow was a Tatar-style one, crafted by a well-experienced bowyer with long-standing presence in the market. I loved shooting with it and I still own it to this day. It holds a special place in my heart, as it helped me master the fundamentals of archery.
I decided to craft a Tatar-style bow featuring string bridges. The idea soon turned into action. I used the Hungarian Type I and Type II resin bows as the foundation, focusing primarily on modifying the horn sections, since every bow fundamentally consists of a grip and flexible limbs.
When designing the horn tips my intention was to carry forward the distinctive style that characterizes all „Molnár Bows”, and that’s how the current form came to life.
A string bridge, made from its own material, has been created on the horn, on which the string rests in the braced state. This design provides several benefits: it reduces the lateral oscillation of the string upon release, thereby enhancing shooting accuracy. It also provides an extra boost to the arrow just before it leaves the string, resulting in a measurable increase in speed compared to bows without a string bridge.
Another benefit is the shorter horn length, which reduces the overall weight of the bow and significantly decreases the inertial force acting on the horn during the shot.
The only drawback is that the bow produces a slight noise when the string strikes the bridge during the shot. While most archers are not bothered by this, it is important to mention it for those sensitive to noise.
This bow requires a precise release technique. A poor release causes the bow to „kick,” punishing the archer with an uneven feedback. This means that upon release, the energy accumulated in the limbs and concentrated in the grip transfers unevenly toward one limb, causing the vibration felt as the bow’s kick.
I recommend this bow type for intermediate to advanced archers who have already mastered a clean release technique. When stringing the bow, ensure the lower part of the string is correctly seated on the designated area of the string bridge.
You can request engraving on the horn tips, such as a short name, monogram, or even runic script (included in the price).
You get to choose your future bow’s draw weight and color options (horn, leather, wrapping), tailoring it precisely to your preferences.
- Íj hossza | Bow length: 146 cm
- Ideg hossz | String length: 122 cm
- Ajzási magasság | Brace height: 19 cm
- Az íj 28 colon van mérve. | The bow is measured at a 28-inch draw length.
- Max. húzáshossz | Maximum draw length: 32 col | 32 inches
- Erősség | Draw weight: 25-50 lb
- Szín: Szarv, bőr, bandázs színe meghatározható.
Color: horn, leather, and the color of the wrapping can be customized.
